Query SCCM for specific software from Programs and Features (Add / Remove Programs) in Windows

Query SCCM for specific software

To search your Windows client devices for a specific installation of software e.g Mozilla Firefox:-

1. Create a new Device Collection in SCCM e.g Office 2010 Installs and set the Limiting Collection to Workstations
2. Create a new Query membership rule and add the following Query below in the Query Language box (delete contents first)

select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,
SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,
SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Name not in (select distinct SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Name from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName like "Mozilla Firefox%")

3. Be sure to change the software name at the end of the query (in bold) to what you are searching for – e.g Mozilla Firefox. The % are wildcards so you don’t need the exact name that is shown in Programs and Features

4. Click OK a few times and wait for the Member Count to appear (The hourglass timer icon will be displayed as it queries all Windows Devices)
